Most answers about benefits are online and can be found at OPM.gov. There are also education programs you can take, for example here or here or here. The more complicated cases (for instance, involving military service) will need more personalized help. Fed Navigator also has resources you can turn to for the answers.
There are a number of ways to market the workshop.
One of the best ways is to contact the agencies in your area and inform them of this free workshop.
Use your existing list of federal employees to reach out and encourage them to share your workshop.
Once someone attends a workshop, they are kept in the Fed Navigator database and are communicated to each month. When a new workshop is scheduled, all past attendees are notified and encouraged to share with their peers.
After a few workshops, most attendees come from referrals and the need for marketing on your end decreases.
The workshops & webinars are anything but the typical, boring financial classes they are used to. And because of that, they are blown away by what they learn.
They are interactive, thought-provoking, and fun. Most often, attendees will end the workshop more excited and energetic than when they came. Why? Because they finally have hope that they can retire. And they are excited to meet with you for the two free meetings.
During the meetings, federal employees are told the rules of their benefits. Their next question is, “How does that affect me personally?” For that, you will offer two free meetings to show them their numbers and answer any follow-up questions they may have.
And the webinars are professionally produced. They don’t look like a laptop presentation, but rather something that is created in the studio. Plus, there is instant feedback for the attendees.
It is because everyone wins. Federal employees know astonishingly little about their benefits. Once they understand what they have been missing, they are excited to learn what the rules mean to their retirement and how to use the rules to their benefit to create a better retirement.
